We've stopped shouting at the telly to make these things so promise you'll try to enjoy 'em.

New (ish) tune: Oxygen – Small Town Jones, it’s any good

Small Town JonesFor the last few years, the British indie charts and even the mainstream charts have been awash with contrived guitar pop bands whose schtick seems to be singing in outrageously local accents about ordinary things and it’s been fucking awful frankly.

‘I went doon the chip shop, and saw my bonnie wee lass Morag,

but she was haway snoggin’ wi another chap, so I  went off to Nettos and bought a

big bag of crisps and Donald where’s my troosers?’

It’s mainly because none of them were Blur.

This song is off STJ’s  2nd self released album and thankfully it’s free of their local (Devon) accent because, well, it would make them sound like sheep shagging country bumpkins or The Wurzels.  So well done lads for leaving that alone, however in the current timid A and R climate, it may be the reason they don’t have a  deal with a major label yet.

If you  are an oldie like me and you like John Martyn’s vocal style, Dave Gilmour’s soloing and Paul Weller’s stuff circa the Wildwood era, you’re gonna totally dig these guys and this track.

The strength of musicianship and songwriting is so strong however that it is only a matter of time before some A and R monkey stops goal hanging around the usual venues, ‘faces’ and other A and R monkeys long enough to actually get them signed up and delivered to the wider audience the surely deserve. Here at OTOTTF Towers we’re doing our bit to tell the world about them, why not spread the joy and share this too?
